Carrefour plans 30 new stores in China

carrefourThe french retailer Carrefour is planning to expand its activities in China. According to Georges Plassat, chief executive officer of the firm, quoted by the Fresh Plaza web site, Carrefour China will be established in thirty new towns over the next three years, reaching 100 supermarkets in the whole Country. Plassat also underlined the importance in food safety and job creation in China. The french retailer has introduced new strategies, such as working directly with the farmers to give the consumer good quality products at the best prices. Since 2007, Carrefour China has already worked with 552 cooperative farms and bought 428.000 tons of products. Last year, Carrefour also started to sell french food in China.
