Eco packaging will be at the center stage of Novamont’s participation at Fruit Logistica, the leading event for the international fresh produce trade. Taking place in Berlin from 5 to 7 February 2014, the exhibition will present the latest innovations emerging from the industry. Alessandro Ferlito, Novamont’s Sales Director, explained the new products that will be displayed in Berlin: «This year at Fruit Logistica we will be presenting a series of extremely important applications for the world of agriculture and horticulture, which have been created through the latest advances in our development of low environmental impact products. We will demonstrate the entire life cycle of products based on our polymers, from use through to composting». Among these products, there will be black and transparent mulching film, classic plant pots, bags for packaging fruit and vegetables, compostable labels, new highly-transparent packaging film. All Novamont’s solutions for bio agriculture and eco packaging are made from the fourth generation of Mater-Bi, the biodegradable and compostable range of plastics containing starches and vegetable oils, which can provide environmentally friendly solutions. Mater-Bi now contains an even higher proportion of renewable raw materials, further reducing the level of greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
